Ineke Hans

Ineke Hans
Ineke Hans (NL, 1966) studied product design at Acadamy of Arts Arnhem and graduated with an MA in Furniture design from the Royal College of Art in London in 1995 before setting up her company INEKEHANSARNHEM in The Netherlands in 1998.
She started of by initializing product collections herself, still sold via INEKEHANS|collection. With studio|INEKEHANS she designs and works with a small team on a wide range of 3d projects: furniture, products and jewellery come as one-offs, small batch products, as well as mass-produced items.
Since 2005 the studio's emphasis moved to industrial designed products for innovative and leading international designcompanies. Next to that she designs exhibitions and architectural projects.

Ineke's early work centered around pictograms and archetypes, but it has evolved in many ways; investigating the psychological roots of products, perceiving and playing with the interaction between people, objects and space.
Ineke is highly valued for her down-to-earth and hybrid designapproach with a focus on detail, function and clarity and an interest in the vernacular. She is seen as one of the leading Dutch Designers.
Old and brand new production methods are used in intelligent, unconventional ways. Innovation in materials and production techniques and re-thinking of existing human values and habits have become most important triggers for new work and make it multi layered, playful and social.

Garlic Crusher, Smallroom, A380 chair and other works have won prestigious inter-national design awards. Her work is purchased by leading collectors and museums.
Ineke was 'Guest of Honour' at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2009 and she made significant exhibitions in Holland, Frankfurt, Milan and London.
Her clients include manufactures like: Arco, Cappellini, Chi ha paura...?, Iittala, Lensvelt, Magis, Offecct, Royal Ahrend, RoyalVKB, SCP, and institutes as: Cooper Hewitt Museum (NY), Royal Dutch Forestguard, Shorefast Foundation Canada and Dutch Governmental Organisations.

Books on her work: MIND-SETS, 2010 | Black Bazaar - design dilemma's, 2003 | Eidetic Furniture, 1997
