Andries Van Onck was born in 1928, Amsterdam, and studied Industrial Design at the Royal Dutch Academy at The Hague from 1952-1954. From 1954-1959, he studied at the Hochschule fur Gestaltung in Ulm, Germany. Andries Van Onck worked as industrial designer at Olivetti Italy from 1959 to 1965. In 1976, he became a member of the Board of the ADI (Italian Designers Association).

He participated in many international design exhibitions and some of his designs are in the permanent collections of the museums of modern art in Chicago, London, Amsterdam and at the Louvre in Paris.

Andries van Onck studied at the Royal Dutch Academy in Den Haag before moving onto the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm. after graduation he worked as a designer with Olivetti and as an assistant to Ettore Sottsass before opening his own studio in Milan. Andries van Onck has created many products in different sectors, such as electronic equipment, household appliances, furniture. One of van Onck's bravest design is without doubt his Tiramisù step-ladder for Kartell .
